It was a casual, dress-down-in-jeans, fundraising affair for the Center Place Fine Arts & Civic Association at the T. Pepin Hospitality Centre in Tampa on April 28.

Some 250 people convened to bear tribute to a center that for decades in Brandon has offered arts programs for adults and childen as well as a place to meet for civic, cultural, charitable and family affairs.

This year's gala, as in year's past, is an opportunity as well to present annual awards, including the Patricia B. Odiorne Scholarship winner and the S.L. "Spud" Clements Award recipient.

This year's honoreers were Casey Field, a student from Bloomingdale High School and a student at Kim Hall's School of Dance, and Bill and Connie Durkin, respectively.

New this year was the awarding of the First Annual C.A.R.E. Award, the Corporate Award for Recognizing Excellence. For that tribute, Tad Denham took home the award, a guitar crafted by artist Virginia Spalter, on behalf of the Tampa Electric Company (TECO).

As a special treat, attendees were treated to performances by Jeremy Rosado, this year's Top 13 contestant in the "American Idol" sing-off.

Linda, Lisa, and all of my amazing Arts friends, thank you so much for honoring Casey Field. Casey receiving the Pat Odiorne Scholarship was
not only a terrific honor for Casey Field but also for me. Casey has been a student at KHSD since she was in preschool and I consider her my amazing"other daughter". That in itself is cause for me to be so proud, however; in addition to that, Pat Odiorne's daughter was also a student of mine and Pat, my husband Victor, + I considered Pat to be a very special friend. She was an amazingly supportive and always there when we needed her, KHSD Dance Mom. I know that Pat would have been thrilled with this year's winner:Casey Field. Pat was with us that night at Pepin ....dancing,laughing,+ partying with all. God bless Center Place and the Odiorne family for all that they do for our young artists. Most of all....thank you Pat, I miss you and treasure the time that I got to spend with you....I will see you on the other side. Much love, Kim
