Bag of Driver's Licenses, Credit Cards Found in Brandon Motel Room

Several of the licenses found at Brandon Motor Lodge had been reported stolen, and some of the credit cards had been used to conduct fraudulent transactions, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office reports.

A bag containing hundreds of driver's licenses, credit cards, social security cards and passports was found in a Brandon motel room earlier this week, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office reports.

Deputies responded to Brandon Motor Lodge, 906 Brandon Blvd. E., around 11:14 p.m. Tuesday night after an employee there found the plastic bag. It contained several driver's licenses that had been reported stolen, investigators said, and some of the credit cards had been used in fraudulent transactions. The cards and passports were in the names of about 38 different people.

Gefery Pierre, 30, of North Miami, who had been renting the room, was also found to be traveling in a vehicle reported stolen from a rental car company at Tampa International Airport, according to investigators. He also had keys to another stolen vehicle in his possession, officials said.

Pierre was arrested on a warrant for charges of fraudulent use of personal information and two counts of grand theft of a motor vehicle. He was also charged with possession of marijuana and driving while license revoked.

Pierre admitted to renting the room using his brother's personal information without his consent, sheriff's office spokesman Larry McKinnon said.

Branden Jones, 26, also of North Miami, was arrested on a warrant for petit theft and was also charged with obstructing or opposing an officer without violence.

Pierre and Jones were being held in Hillsborough County Jail without bond Thursday.

Good point, and we have since removed the photo. The sheriff's office did release it to the media.

Not sure if they are contacting the people who the IDs belong to, but I would assume so. Officials said many of them had already been reported stolen.
