DUI Busting Aim of Heightened Patrols

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office and the University of South Florida Police Department aim to combat drinking and driving with heightened and saturated patrols scheduled this month.

A two-hour sobriety checkpoint on the University of South Florida campus has been scheduled for July 8 to deter motorists from driving under the influence.

The university’s police department reports that immediately after, a DUI saturation patrol will get under way .

Meanwhile, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office reports heightened patrols July 12 and 16 in Eastern Hillsborough County and July 9 and 30 in Southern Hillsborough County.

Sheriff’s saturation patrols are scheduled for July 22 and 27 in Eastern Hillsborough County and for July 14 and 20 in the southern part of the county.

The sheriff’s crackdown is part of its Operation 3D campaign to raise public awareness in the fight against impaired driving. Operation 3D – “Don’t Drink and Drive” – includes regular safety checkpoints at advertised locations throughout the county.
