Lee Roy Selmon's Restaurant To Fill Space Vacated by Giordano's
Brandon lost Giordano's "famous stuffed pizza" but it's getting the newest Lee Roy Selmon's sports restaurant. The chain's eighth restaurant is set to open in the summer of 2012.
The Brandon building that once housed Giordano’s, the restaurant known for its “famous stuffed pizza,” is getting a new lease on life, with the announced opening of the newest Lee Roy Selmon’s sports restaurant, slated to open in the summer.
How fitting that the restaurant, named for the legendary National Football League Hall of Famer, will stand near the entranceway to the Lee Roy Selmon Expressway, also named for the first recipient of the Ring of Honor for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The restaurant will be in business at 11310 Causeway Blvd., just west of the road’s intersection with Providence Road. Its unique features will include “stadium seating, authentic sports-theme ambiance and state- of the-art sports viewing, with high-definition screens,” according to a company release.
The first Lee Roy Selmon's restaurant opened in Tampa in 2001. The Brandon eatery will be the chain's eighth restaurant.
Many of the dishes on the restaurant's menu trace back to Selmon's boyhood days, growing up on a farm in Oklahoma, including "Mama's Meatloaf, fried green tomatoes, pulled pork, cornbread casserole and cheesy bacon grits," according to a company release.
Other menu items include prime burgers, sliders, creamy macaroni and cheese tossed with braised short ribs and contemporary salads, including bruschetta chicken salad and the Lee Roy Selmon Chopped Salad.
Drinks include buckets of cold beer, craft beers, signature cocktails (including the award-winning Smokin' Tampa Tea), wines by the glass and fresh-squeezed lemonade.

I see they are set to open Summer 2012. I checked to see if the property applied for permits. I didn't see anything! When will they start construction??? I LOVE LEE ROY's and I'm tired of driving so far with these gas prices!
