Music Showcase Plans, Preps for Christmas, October Festivals
Music Showcase in Brandon seeks vendors for its Christmas Festival in December as it prepares for October's Kids Fall Festival and adult costume party, both to benefit the music store and education business's October Breast Cancer Awareness drive.
Music Showcase seeks vendors to showcase their products, crafts and foods at this year's annual Christmas Festival featuring homemade crafts, jewelry, makeup, clothing, food and more.
The event is scheduled for Dec. 8, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at Music Showcase in Brandon, at 402 Oakfield Drive.
Businesses can participate, too, by offering activities for kids and handing out promotional materials. Featured will be live music inside the Music Showcase theater auditorium, with music by students, and outside on the patio, with performances staged by groups from throughout the Greater Brandon community.
Meanwhile, Music Showcase is going pink with a Kids Fall Festival scheduled for Oct. 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is free, but for a small fee kids can play games and activities and enjoy music and food.
In so doing, kids and their families can help support the cause to find a cure for breast cancer and to raise awareness for breast cancer prevention.
Also on Oct. 20, from 7 to 10 p.m., parents — without the kids — are invited to a costume Halloween party, with food and music. Tickets are $10 in advance, sold at Music Showcase, and $15 at the door.
Music Showcase in September sought nominations of local women with breast cancer undergoing treatment. The money raised in October the music store and education businesses's breast cancer awareness fundraisers will be given to the woman whose name is selected from among that group of submissions.
Also sought are Greater Brandon business people willing to donate services for the recipient, such as lawn mainteance and housecleaning.
Music Showcase in 2011 donated services and monies totaling more than $1,000 to Shelly Ellis. This year, Music Showcase hopes to raise even more money, according to Deborah Evans, the store's director of communications. Planned fundraisers include selling pink ribbons and pink cupcakes.
