Tampa Flights Delayed by Winter Mess in Northeast

A March snowstorm in the Northeast is delaying flights at the Florida airport.

UPDATE: Travelers from the Tampa airport were continuing to face long delays Friday night with flights to New York, New Jersey and other Northeast states.

Folks traveling this weekend or picking up travelers from the Florida airport are advised to check in ahead of time with their airline.

The slush and snow making life in March miserable for people in the Northeast is having an impact on travelers using the Tampa International Airport.

According to the FAA's flight status information:

  • Flights to Newark International Airport, Newark, NJ, were averaging delays of 3 hours.
  • Flights to La Guardia, NY, were averaging delays of 1 hour, 31 minutes.
  • Flights to JFK Airport, New York, were averaging 1 hour, 11 minute delays.
  • Flights to LaGuardia were averaging 3 hour, 55 minute delays.

Check with your specific airline for the most accurate flight information.
