Center Place Fine Arts & Civic Association Artist's Reception for James McCarthy's June Exhibit In the Mook Gallery.
About the Show: "I like to draw and paint spontaneous organic imagery. In Surrealism this is known as ‘biomorphism’. However, depicting the landscape, along with its weather and seasons is very important to me from an emotional perspective.
Music inspires much of my work. I am also influenced by childhood memories of Kalamazoo, Michigan, where I am originally from, particularly my memorie of the snow and ice of Winter. There are even places around my neighborhood in Brandon which I use as inspiration for my landscapes which I then embellish. Also, I am enamored by the images I see of gardens and ruins from around the world and especially those of the British Isles, with their fairy tale rolling hills and hedgerows."
