Flagler College Ranks in U.S. News Top 10 Among Regional Colleges in the South
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Flagler College received high honors Sept. 10 in U.S. News & World Report’s annual rankings of the best colleges in the United States.
The prestigious list of top colleges put Flagler, with its historic campus and undergraduate enrollment of 2,847 students, at No. 8 among regional colleges in the southern U.S.

“We are happy to be recognized as a top institution by U.S. News,” said Dr. William Abare, president of Flagler College. “Flagler College provides a supporting and challenging environment for our students and we pride ourselves on graduating intelligent, well-rounded and motivated young adults who are groomed for success in life.”

Dr. Abare described the Top 10 ranking as in indication of the college’s enhanced standing among institutions of higher education, and an affirmation of Flagler’s commitment to an exceptional educational experience for its students.
Flagler climbed from No. 11 in the 2013 ranking to No. 8 in the 2014 list, reflecting its efforts to lower class size and enhance its student/faculty ratio, which stands at 18:1. The college strives to keep itself affordable, and its 2013-2014 tuition and fees total $16,180.
More than 70 colleges were including in U.S. News’ first tier of rankings of colleges in the South. Other schools in the top 10 included Highpoint University, Florida Southern College and University of the Ozarks.
Flagler College was also included in the Princeton Review’s 2014 edition of “The Best 378 Colleges” in the United States. The college is often noted for its historic campus, which includes the former grand Hotel Ponce de Leon, a National Historic Landmark now preserved and utilized as a residence hall for 480 women and the campus dining hall.
