29th Annual Alafia Boat Parade Set for Riverview

The Alafia Boat Parade at the International Showomen's Association in Riverview, presented by the FishHawk-Riverview Rotary Club, is set for Dec. 1.

 

Boat owners, light up.

Youare invited to deck your vessels with Christmas lights and participate in the 29th annual Alafia Lighted Boat Parade on Dec. 1, from 5 to 9 p.m.

The event, hosted by the FishHawk-Riverview Rotary Club, will take place at the International Independent Showmen's Association, 6915 Riverview Dr., Riverview.

The event is free for spectators and includes photos with Santa, kid's activities, entertainment, food and beverages for purchase, a silent auction, door prizes and a chili cook-off as well as a chance to see lighted boats parade up and down the Alafia River.

The deadline for boat owners to enter is Nov. 30. There is a $25 entry fee with cash prizes given for the best-decorated boats. Winning large boats will receive $500 for first place and $250 for second place. Winning small boats will receive $350 for first place and $150 for second place. 

The deadline to enter the chili cook-off also is Nov. 30. The first-place winner will receive a $100 cash prize.
