Brandon '86 Rotarians Award High School Scholarships

Graduating seniors from Arwmood and Durant high school receive this year's Lambert P. Friederich and Marion Link memorial scholarships.

Each year the Brandon '86 Rotary Club awards two, $1,000 scholarships to winners who best represent the Rotary motto, "Service Above Self." This year's winners hail from Armwood and Durant high schools.

The scholarships are named after Brandon '86 Rotarians who have passed away and were monumental to the club's development. Awarded is the Lambert P. Friederich Memorial Scholarship and the Marion Link Century of Service Scholarship.

Alexandria Sweat, who ranked fifth in her class at Durant High School, was awarded the Lambert P. Friederich Memorial Scholaship. She possesses qualities that will influence communities and plans to become a dentist and open her practice in the Greater Brandon community. Her office will be one focused on benefiting her patients over profit. She wants to give back to her community that has been so good to her. She believes she will make a difference in the lives of the people in our community. Alexandria posted a 6.44 grade-point average and plans to attend the University of Central Florida.

Stephanie Walker, who ranked 15 in her class at Armwood High School, was awarded the Marion Link Memorial Scholarship. She works with the under-priviledged in the Greater Brandon community and aims to help make her community a better place to live. She wants to get people involved. She feels that being a volunteer should not feel like a job, it should feel like a reward. Stephanie post a 5.5 grade-point average and plans to attend Florida State University.
