Brandon Sports and Aquatic Turns 50

Saturday, April 20, the Brandon Sports and Aquatic Center will celebrate 50 years serving the greater Brandon community. A commemoration ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. during the 2013 Extreme Summer Camp Open House (9 a.m. to 2 p.m.)
Emceed by Ernest Hooper of the Tampa Bay Times and with special presentations from Brandon Honorary Mayor Gay Lynn Love, County Commissioner Al Higginbotham and the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, BSAC will honor some of its original charter members and announce upcoming plans. Square 1 Burgers in Brandon man the grill and DJ Robert Horning and Action Promos and Events will provide games and entertainment, with an open swim for the public from 2 to 5 p.m.

Rock-a-Thon Benefit
Residents are invited to participate in Ready to Rock, a rock-a-thon to benefit the Sylvia Thomas Center, a nonprofit adoption support center, April 20 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the center, 500 Lithia-Pinecrest Rd., Brandon. Participants will rock in rocking chairs for donations to benefit the center. There will be entertainment, food and games during the event.
Take Back the Night
Sunday, April 21, the Sexual Violence Task Force of Tampa Bay, in collaboration with the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay, will host Take Back the Night, an interactive event that creates awareness, empowers survivors and educates the community about sexual violence. Emcees for this event are Keith Cate of WFLA-TV and Lissette Campos of WFTS-TV. The event will kick off at 4 p.m. with a music fest and resource and children's fair. There will be a ceremony, march and pledge by men to help stop the violence. The event will conclude with a candlelight vigil at 7 p.m.
Craft Show
Holy Innocents' Episcopal Church, 604 N. Valrico Rd., Valrico, will host its annual Spring Whistle Stop Craft Show Saturday, April 20 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Vintner's Dinner
The Tampa Bay Wine & Food Festival is holding a series of Vintner's Dinners at restaurants around the Tampa Bay Area to benefit local charities. The first will be held Saturday, April 20 at 6 p.m. at the Rolling Pin Kitchen Emporium, 2080 Badlands Dr., Brandon. Southern Wine & Spirits is pairing each course with wines from its extensive portfolio and Rolling Pin Chef Dave West will prepare a meal of Scallion Crepes with Shrimp and Smoked Salmon, Butternut Squash Bisque, Pork Chops stuffed with Spinach, Pine Nuts and Mozzarella served with a Tomato and Stilton Salad, Oven Roasted Fingerling Potatoes and Olive Oil Cake with Candied Oranges. Tickets are $100
Trivia Night
Uncle Mike's Smokehouse Grill, 9847 E. Adamo Dr., Tampa, hosts a Trivia Night each Sunday at 6 p.m.
