GET OUT: Weekend Events Preview March 29-31

With a variety of entertainment venues and restaurants in the area, there's no reason to spend the weekend at home. We've put together a list of fun things to do in the Brandon area.

Egg Hunt at Hawthorne

Hawthorne Village, 859 W. Lumsden Rd., Brandon, will host an Easter Egg Hunt Friday, March 29 at 11 a.m. for ages 12 and under. In addition to the egg hunt, children can have their photos taken with the Easter Bunny and enjoy prizes and refreshments.

Tres Amigos Cantina, 2025 W. Brandon Blvd., Brandon will host free Easter egg hunts Saturday, March 30 at noon and 2:30 p.m., along with face painting, photos with the Easter bunny, games and prizes.

In addition, kids eat free with the purchase of an adult entree.

Easter Story

The Crossing Church, 10130 Tuscany Ridge Dr., Tampa, will host "The Crown," an Easter productin featuring music and video, Saturday, March 30 at 4 and 6 p.m. and Sunday, March 31 at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m. (Spanish service) and 5 p.m. The event also will include an Easter egg hunt for preschoolers.

Spring Tea Fundraiser

Loving God's Children will host a Sprng Tea Fundraiser to benefit foster care families and an orphanage project in Kazakhstan Saturday, March 30 at 10 a.m. at Bell Shoals Baptist Church, 2102 Bell Shoals Rd., Brandon. Tickets are $25.

Brandon Coin and Currency Show

The Brandon Coin Club will host a Coin and Currency Show Saturday, March 30 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Brandon Elks Lodge, 800 Centennial Lodge Dr., Brandon. The free event will feature 30 dealers with 45 tables of coins and currency. There will be door prizes, appraisals, food and a free coin grab bag for all children under 12 years old.

Customer Appreciation Day

Brandon Rental Centers is turning 40. To celebrate, the store at 436 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Seffner, will host an anniversary and customer appreciation party Saturday, March 30 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Brandon Rental also will have a yard sale of used inventory from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.  

There will be music, games, a bounce house, raffle drawing, specials and giveaways. In addition, there will be 40-cent hot dogs, cotton candy, popcorn, snow cones and slushees. A portion of the proceeds will go to a local charity.

Community Easter Sunrise Service

The First United Methodist Church Emmaus Community will lead an Easter Sunrise Service Sunday, March 31 from 6:45 to 7:30 a.m. at Rotary's Camp Florida, 1915 Camp Florida Rd., Brandon.

Easter Brunch

Sumatra Bistro, 1602 Oakfield Dr., Brandon, will host an Easter Brunch Buffet Sunday, March 31 with seatings at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. The buffet will feature chicken breast marsala, roast leg of lamb, tilalpia, sides and desserts. The cost is $16.95 for adults and $9.95 for children 12 and under. Call 813-655-6200.

Trivia Night

Uncle Mike's Smokehouse Grill, 9847 E. Adamo Dr., Tampa, hosts a Trivia Night each Sunday at 6 p.m.
