GET OUT: Weekend Events Preview Oct. 22-23

A fall festival, play and Halloween party are all on tap this weekend.

The Valrico Village Players will present this weekend at The James McCabe Theater, 506 5th St., Valrico. Performances are: Friday Oct. 21st at 8 p.m., Saturday Oct. 22nd at 8 p.m. Admission: $12.

Spicy Treasures, 102 Mason St., Brandon, (inside All About Beauty), is offering a Pole-A-Thon Oct. 22 at 8 a.m. Cost: $10.

Disney Store Halloween Dress Rehearsal Party. , 459 Brandon Town Center Drive, will celebrate the season early at the Disney Store with a spook-tacular event filled with games, a special viewing of  Rapunzel's coronation and a costume parade. Kids, ages 3 and up, who wear their favorite costume will receive a free gift. Minimum age requirement to receive free gift is 3 years. This event takes place at 10:30 am and then again at noon.

Lunch and Mission Auction. 11 a.m. First Presbyterian Church, 121 Carver Ave. The ALMA lunch and mission auction is held every other year to benefit a local mission. All of this year’s proceeds will go to Brandon Outreach Clinic, a not-for-profit corporation serving Brandon residents who are in need of, but cannot afford, basic medical care. Silent auction begins at 11 AM, Lunch served at noon, followed by the live auction. Call: 813-643-1004 or 813-957-1608.

The Annual BSHOA Fall Festival. 10300 Sedgebrook Drive, Riverview. This year it is featuring Billy Bob Steinberg Comedy Spectacular, Lowe's Build & Grow, Checkered Flag Entertainment – Slot Car Racing, Florida Nature Expert & Gator Hunter Rodney Rogers, there will be clowns, Touch-A-Truck, free pony rides, paper airplane making/flying with Dean Mackey, face painting, balloon animals, costume contests, games, prizes for the children, and more. For the parents community information (such as CERT, Disaster preparedness, child ID kits, insurance information, local businesses, and more), demos, Sam’s Club is offering free Hearing and Vision Screenings, and there will be lots of free attendance raffle prizes given away throughout the event so get there early.

Dedication and 5th Anniversary Celebration. AMVETS Post 26, 221 South Dover Road, Dover, will be celebrating thier 5th Anniversary and the Dedication of the Post to "Big John" Farrell.  "Big John" was the founder of our post in Oct 2006.  AMVETS is a non-profit organization that centers thier help around Veterans.  Come join the festivities and see what we are about.  Festivities start at 1 pm and the ceremony for the dedication will start at 2pm. Food and Drinks are available.
