Get Out: Weekend Planner for Brandon

Plant City Entertainment, Tadpoles Crawfish Boil, the Westfield Brandon viewing of the 9/11 steel beam from the World Trade Center, all on tap and more for Greater Brandon this weekend, May 7-8.

Greater Brandon gets underway with a host of weekend activites designed to lend support, entertain and give pause to reflect.

This listing of events includes activities at Westfield Brandon, Tadpoles, Sugar Boutique, Bell Shoal Baptist, Beef O' Brady's, Winthrop Town Centre, the Brandon Moose Lodge and the Plant City Enterainment theater.

9/11 BEAM FROM WORLD TRADE CENTER AT BRANDON MALL

  • When/Where: May 8, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., , 459 Brandon Town Center.
  • Why Go: Steal Beam No. H-0076 will be on display for the public this weekend at Westfield shopping malls in Brandon (May 8) and Citrus Park (May 7). Call: 813-661-5100

CRAWFISH BOIL

  • When/Where: May 7, noon-10 p.m., Tadpoles, 115 E. Brandon Blvd.
  • Why Go: The all-day event includes music, all you eat boiled Louisiana crawfish with an authentic New Orleans menu .Contact: 813-662-FROG (3764)

 CLEO HEART SINGING JAZZ, R&B, AND BLUES FESTIVAL

  • When/Where: May 7, 5-8 p.m., Sugar Boutique, 2482 W. Brandon Blvd. (Regency Square Plaza in the AMC Movie theatre arena.)
  • Why Go: Cleo Heart sings Jazz, R&B and blues. This free event is sponsored by Sugar Boutique, HoHo's Chinese Restaurant, The Hobby Town, Blockbuster Comics, Wise guys Pizza, and Astoria café. Call: 813-681-3480

 COFFEE AND BREAKFAST

  • When/Where: May 7, 9:30 a.m., 7013 Lithia Pinecrest Road.
  • Why Go: The Pinecrest 912 Patriots will host a coffee and breakfast at the Country Corner Cafe and Market.

SPRING COFFEE

  • When/Where: May 7, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., , 2102 Bell Shoals Road.
  • Why Go: The Greater Brandon Community Foundation will host its fourth annual Spring Coffee fundraiser to raise funds and awareness for the Foundation Angel Program. Each guest is asked to bring a gift card for $25 to be distributed to Brandon area families in need. To date, Foundation Angels have helped more than 100 families facing emergency situations. LADIES NIGHT OUT

  • When/Where: May 7, 6:30–9 p.m., 6026 Winthrop Town Centre Ave.
  • Why Go: The Little Shoppes of Winthrop Town Centre, 6026 Winthrop Town Centre Ave., Riverview, will host a Mother's Day Ladies Night Out May 7 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. The event will feature a shopping party on the patio in front of the Little Shoppes of Winthrop between Starbucks and Five Guys, with complimentary wine and food provided by the vendors. Shops participating include Lady Chameleon Accessories Boutique, Royalty X Thr33 and Bellafia Chocolate Boutique. Call: (813) 421-3220. 

SPIRIT NIGHT

  • When/Where: May 7, 5 p.m., Beef ‘O’ Brady's, 4330 Bell Shoals Road.
  • Why Go: Beef O' Brady's will host a Spirit Night May 7 to help raise money for Liz Hinckley a senior at Bloomingdale High School, who is going after the Girl Scout Gold Award.  Ten percent of sales will be donated back to her cause. Call: (813) 653-1888

PLANT CITY ENTERTAINMENT

  • When/Where:  May 7, 8 p.m., and May 8, 2 p.m., Plant City Entertainment, Inc. Theater, 101 N. Thomas Street, Plant City.
  • Why Go: Plant City Entertainment takes to the stage with "Daddy's Dyin' Who's Got The Will?" The comedy is set in a small Texas town and concerns the reunion of a family gathered to await the imminent death of daddy. The show celebrates the "rebirth of the spirit of the family unit." STEAK DINNER

  • When/Where:  May 8, 6-8 p.m., Brandon Moose Lodge, 804 South Miller Road.
  • Why Go: The Brandon Moose Legion hosts a steak dinner the second Saturday of each month at the lodge, 804 S. Miller Road. Call: (813) 689-6043
