Grab & Go Kids Planner: Top 5 Picks for the Week

Check out all the things to do with kids this week in the Brandon area.

Juggling your responsibilities and entertaining the kids is no easy task. Brandon Patch is coming to the rescue, with the Top 5  family-friendly activities in the area.

  • Where/When: Brandon Regional Library, 619 Vonderburg Dr. Wednesday at 4 p.m.
  • Why Go: Teens in grades 6 to 12 are invited to the library for a fun evening creating anime music videos! Students will use Microsoft software to produce and edit their videos.
  • Price: Free!

Kids Cooking Class

  • Where/When: Young Chefs Academy, 1576 Bloomingdale Avenue in Valrico. Friday at 4:30 p.m.
  • Why Go: Its Old World Italy week at the Young Chefs Academy. This week, students will learn to prepare traditional Italian foods as well as other cooking tips, recipes and more. The menu includes,  linguini with pesto and spaghetti carbonara.
  • Pricing: $27 per child.

WFamily Fun Day

  • Where/When: Westfield Brandon Mall, 459 Brandon Town Center . Saturday at 6 p.m.
  • Why Go: In celebration of St. Patrick's Day, Westfield Brandon hosts its Luck of the Irish Festival. Kids along with parents will enjoy an array of exciting games ad door prizes.
  • Pricing: Free!

Harlem Globetrotters 2011 World Tour

  •  Where/When: St. Pete Times Forum,  401 Channelside Dr. Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
  • Why Go: The world famous Harlem Globetrotters will stop in Tampa this weekend on their 85th Annual Tour. Hold on to the edge of your seat as these high-energy athletes perform tricks, show off some fancy foot work, and more. If you and your family love basketball, you will not want to miss this show. Featured Globetrotters include, "Buckets Blakes," "Slick Willie Shaw," "Scooter Christiensen," and "Handles Franklin."
  • Price: Tickets are $15 to $106.

  • Where/When: Center Place, 619 Vonderburg Dr. Sunday at 2 p.m.
  • Why Go: The community is invited to join Center Place and Brandon Ballet for the 4th annual Chalk Walk. The event offers free demonstrations, a magic show, face painting, and music. Tickets are available at the Center Place Fine Arts and Civic Association. Children ages 3 and older are welcome.
  • Price: Free!
