Tadpoles Hosting Fundraiser For Family Of 11-Year-Old Valrico Girl

Funds will help defray cost of medical bills for the family of Darien Reese Engelberger, who died last month of a rare heart disease.

Tadpoles of Brandon, 115 East Brandon Blvd., is hosting a fundraiser Monday, Oct. 10, for the family a young Valrico girl who recently died of heart disease.

A portion of the sales at the popular Brandon restaurant and bar will go to the family of Darien Reese Engelberger to help pay for medical bills. Tadpoles is open until 3 a.m.

after battling a rare heart disease.

Darien was playing basketball July 29 when she was taken to hospital with a high heart rate.

Over the next two days Darien was transferred to two hospitals before being admitted to the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit at All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg on July 31.

There, she was diagnosed with a life-threatening virus (human Parvovirus) that was attacking her heart. She underwent five open heart-surgeries and numerous procedures.

Darien leaves behind her parents, Deana and Eric, and a little sister, Avery.
