Tickets still available for the Feb. 24 "Bunco for the Kids" fundraiser at Center Place. The event is hosted by the Kappa Kappa chapter of Kappa Delta Phi.

Another night, another Bunco at Center Place, this time for local children’s charities through the Kappa Kappa chapter of Kappa Delta Phi, a social and community service organization in Brandon.

The Feb. 24 event kicks off at 6:30 p.m. at the Center Place Fine Arts & Civic Association, which shares space in the Sandy Rodriguez Center with the Brandon Regional Library.

Bunco is a dice game, played in teams with five dice. Tickets cost $15 per person.

“All proceeds go to local children’s charities, which will be selected in May,” said Nancy Kelley, a Kappa Kappa member, and emcee for the Bunco fundraiser. “Last year we gave to ECHO (the Emergency Care Help Organization) and the Nativity (Church) Food Pantry, Center Place and the YMCA. We also sponsored a holiday children’s party for challenged foster children.”

Kappa Kappa last year was a sponsor of Center Place’s Love of the Arts Chalk Chalk and Santa’s Holiday Workshop. Bunco proceeds also helped pay for several scholarships for kids to attend art classes at Center Place.

“We sent a Boy Scout to camp, we helped a Kid’s Place and we bought Christmas gifts for children under the guardian ad litem program,” Kelley said. "We did several other things but that gives you the gist. It’s all for the kids."
