PARADE ON STAGE

WHERE/WHEN: The Showcase Players will present "Parade" Friday, Jan. 25 at 7 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 26 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 27 at 2 p.m., Friday, Feb. 1 at 7 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 2 at 2 and 7 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 3 at 2 p.m. at the McCabe Theatre, 506 5th St., Valrico.

WHY GO: The musical dramatizes the 1913 trial of Jewish factory manager Leo Frank, who was accused and convicted of raping and murdering a 13-year-old employee, Mary Phagan.Tickets are available online at www.faopa.org.

WHERE/WHEN: Grace United Methodist Church at FishHawk, 5708 Lithia-Pinecrest Rd., Lithia, will host a giant yard sale and silent auction Saturday, Jan. 26 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

WHY GO: The silent auction will feature more than 50 items including passes to Disney World and Sea World, weekend getaways, autographed sports memorabilia, birthday party packages and baskets with gift certificates from local restaurants and stores. Proceeds will benefit the church's mission trip to Nicaragua this summer.

LOW-COST PET VACCINATIONS

WHERE/WHEN: Bloomingdale Pet Supply, 3110 Lithia-Pinecrest Rd., Valrico, will host a low-cost shot clinic for pets Saturday, Jan. 26 from 3 to 4 p.m.

WHY GO: No appointment is needed. Heartguard, Comfortis and Trifexis will be available for purchase. Call 813-662-9296.

CFDA FOUNDATION FUNDRAISER

WHERE/WHEN: The Central Florida Dance Alliance Foundation is having a fundraiser at Menchie's, 6046 Winthrop Town Centre Ave., Riverview, Saturday Jan. 26, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

WHY GO: This is to benefit the foundation's scholarship fund and to help the students with expenses for competition and convention fees. Please remember to bring the attached flier so the foundation will receive a percentage of sales.

BOOK SIGNING

WHERE/WHEN: Animal lovers will have a chance to meet the authors of a new book while helping a local animal charity when Robek's Fruit Smoothies & Healthy Eats, 1044 Bloomingdale Ave., Valrico, hosts a book signing Saturday, Jan. 26 from 3 to 6 p.m.

WHY GO: Four veterinarians, all classmates at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, have collaborated on An Animal Life: The Beginning, a novel inspired by their real-life experiences in veterinary school. Proceeds from the sale of the book will benefit the CARE Shelter in Ruskin.
