Brandon Artists Nilsson Price, Tobaison Take Top Prizes at National Event

Gunhild "Gunni" Nilsson Price is awarded Best of Show at the biennial conference of the Florida State Association of the National League of American Pen Women for her oil painting, "Tailpot." Watercolorist Roxanne Tobaison places third for "Radiant Light.

Brandon artists Gunhild “Gunni” Nilsson Price and Roxanne Tobaison placed “Best of Show” and third place, respectively, in the art category for the biennial conference of the Florida State Association of the National League of American Pen Women.

The “Doorway To Dream: Celebrating Creative Women” conference, held Oct. 27-30 in Sarasota, featured arts, letters, and music “boutiques” designed for “creative women to sell their creative creations.”

Activities included applying paint to a door with an abstract approach, discussing  the relationship between arts and poetry, using self-analysis and learning exercises to revive creative dreams and a flower demonstration by master gardner Sally Cororan.

Brandon artist Nilsson Price received the top prize in the arts category for her oil painting “Tailpot Palm.” She received an award of $250. The Brandon News & Tribune featured Nilsson Price in an article about her biennial conference award, which features as well a picture of her winning work.

Watercolorist Roxanne Tobaison, also a well-known, longtime Brandon artist, took third place for “Radiant Light.” She received an award for $100.
