Brandon League of Fine Arts: A Portrait of the Artists at 'Stay Cool’ Artfest
The league's first indoor summer art festival, at the Center Place Fine Arts & Civic Association, paves the way for future such endeavors. A look here at some of the artists, their works and the reasons behind their passions to create.
They come from different schools of art but gathered for one cool show Aug. 6, as wood, ceramic, surrealist and watercolorist alike displayed their work at the “Stay Cool Indoor Art Fest” at the Center Place Fine Arts & Civic Association.
The event drew artists from the Greater Brandon area and beyond to display everything from jewelry to hand-crafted shawls.
While they work in different mediums -- and the subject of their work ranged from surreal dreamscapes to fish -- the words of artist Frank Bolock could have applied to them all.

Why create art?
As Bolock put it: “It's what I was born to do.”
