The Community Affairs Dinner

This is the 155th anniversary of John and Martha Brandon's arrival in Hillsborough County.  It was a few years later that this area was named for this family.
The annual Community Affairs Dinner on Tuesday, February 21 at Center Place at 6 PM will focus on several familiar names in the Brandon area.  Victoria Street was named for John's second wife and Sadie Street honored his daughter.  A panel discussion with several pioneering families will be part of the evening's celebration.  Those families include the Brandons, Mulrennans, Kings, Bryans, and Simmons.  The stories shared by our speakers will tell of connections to Buffalo Bill Cody and Kit Carson.
Long time residents, Dick Stowers and Paul Dinnis will provide a glimpse into the area history.  Stowers Funeral Home was the Brandon homestead, built by John's son, James.  Paul Dinnis was the founder of The Brandon News and has knowledge of the local history and activities.

In addition, we will present The Alice B. Tompkins Award to the outstanding volunteer, name the Non Profit of the Year, and announce the recipient of the Maureen Krzanowski Scholarship.

Reservations are due by February 10.  Corporate tables are available.  Tickets are $40 per person.  Contact us at: 661-4350, email - Roundtable2008@aol.com, or web site - The Community Roundtable.org for the registration and sponsorship forms.
