‘Arty Party’ Pushes for Increased Arts Involvement

The Greater Brandon Arts Council hosts its annual membership celebration and drive Feb. 25 at Center Place. Learn more about the arts community, at an event with food, wine, performances and prizes.

 

When Anne Drewry was named the second president of the Greater Brandon Arts Council, she expressed her desire to have the group grow to hundreds of member, active, engaged and interested in the arts.

That goal continues, with this weekend’s annual “Arty Party” membership drive.

This year’s event — “Art, You Gotta Love It!” — is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 25, at the in Brandon. The group shares space with the in the Sandy Rodriguez Center, at 619 Vonderburg Drive, just west of Parsons Avenue and next door to the .

Food, wine, soft drinks, entertainment and a silent and live auction are planned for the evening, with festivities running from 7-10 p.m. Performances and exhibits in music, dance and the visual and theater arts will be on stage.

The cost of $25 per person includes the benefits of GBAC membership for one year. Or, attendees can pay $15 for nonmember tickets. Up-to-date arts council members are admitted for free.

The arts council incorporated in December 2006. Members include fine artists, those in the theater arts, owners of dance studios as well as those just interested in supporting the arts.

The purpose of the group is to support all of the arts in Brandon and discover new venues for showing and demonstrating the Brandon area's wealth of artistic talent.
