Happy Birthday, Sherlock Holmes: Locals Set To Stage Play Tribute
Five things to read about the birthday of Sherlock Holmes as locals gear up for a Jan. 6 dinner theater production of the "Penultimate Problem of Sherlock Holmes." The Village Players' three-weekend run is at the James McCabe Theater in Valrico.
The Village Players returns to the stage with the January staging of "The Penultimate Problem of Sherlock Holmes," directed by Gail Pierce.
Show dates and times are Jan. 7, 13-14 and 20-21, at 7 p.m. Also, Jan. 15 at 2:30 p.m. Cost is $12 at the door and $10 in advance from a cast member.
A dinner theater performance is scheduled for Jan. 6 — the date considered by many Sherlock Holmes fans as the detective's birthday — at a cost of $25 per person.

The Baker Street Irregulars, however, during the weekend of Jan. 12-14, will officially celebrate the 158th birthday of the master sleuth. The schedule of events for the birthday celebration include "The Christopher Morley Walk" and lectures from distinguished speakers.
