'Les Miserables' Cast Announced

Calling it the largest turnout for auditions he has ever witnessed, veteran community director Domin Pazo said 101 people showed up to audition for the upcoming Plant City Entertainment production of Les Miserables.

The day-long auditions were held April 6 at the Plant City Entertainment theater, at 101 North Thomas St. in Plant City.

"It was the biggest turnout I've ever been associated with," said Pazo, who for years has directed shows for Plant City Entertainment and for Stagedoor Performing Arts in Brandon and the Village Players in Valrico.

"It's truly one of the most popular musicals in the world, and especially so coming right off the movie release," Pazo added. "For a lot of us, as performers, to finally be able to stage it is just terrific."

Pazo said his cast of 45 actors is set to begin rehearsals Wednesday, April 10. Show dates are July 19-20 and 25-28. Also, Aug. 1-3.

Pazo released the names of actors playing lead roles (see below) and a list of ensemble actors was to be forthcoming.

Meanwhile, word spread quickly on Facebook pages on Sunday, April 7, as Pazo alerted audtioners about their selections.

"Excited to have been offered the part of Marius Pontmercy in Les Mis at PCE," wrote Oliver Sprague. "I can't wait! The music is just amazing."

"I am SO ecstatic to announce I will be playing the role of Eponine in Plant City Entertainment's production of Les Miserables," wrote Mallory Quinn. "I am so honored and grateful for this communtiy to perform with such an incredible cast and director in my dream role I have been rehearsing for since I was 6 (the reason I ever started singing in the first place)!"

Lisa Westcott, in a Facebook message to Brandon Patch Editor Linda Chion Kenney, said we was "blessed to be given the role of Madame Thenardier."

"Just blown away at this opportunity," she added. "And my daughter, Hannah, will be playing little Eponine."
