Stagedoor Opens Five-Show Run of ‘Neverland'

Stagedoor Performing Arts debuts on the stage of its latest venue with a three-week, five-show run of Terry Abbott’s “Neverland,” the story of Peter Pan.

“Neverland marks the Brandon-based community theater troupe’s first show outside of Greater Brandon, made necessary late last year after its long-time association with Limona Village Chapel .

The troupe and performs at South Bay Community Church in Rivervew, just south of the intersection of U.S. Highway 301 and Big Bend Road in Riverview. The address is 13498 South U.S. Highway 301.

Show dates and times for the family friendly musical are April 8-9, 15 and 22-23 at 8 p.m., with the doors opening at 7:30 p.m. Tickets cost $12 for general admission and $10 for students, seniors and military.

The show was written and composed by Abbott, who graduated from Brandon High in 1986. The Stagedoor production is under the direction of Domin Pazo, who graduated from Brandon a year earlier, assisted by Josie Costa.

Stagedoor, founded in Brandon in 1995 by Wayne Otto, retains its deep ties to Brandon and is testing that commitment with its first show at the South Bay church just outside of Apollo Beach.

“Neverland” is "the story of Peter Pan, just told a little differently,” Pazo said. “It’s got the classic characters in it and it brings out the little kid in everybody.”
