'World War Z' Opens, Movie Times and Trailers

Brad Pitt, as Gerry Lane, is in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that threatens to destroy humanity itself,  in World War Z, with large opening-weekend crowds expected today, June 21, at AMC The Regency 20 in Brandon.

Rated PG-13, World of Z runs 1 hour and 56 minutes and features Brad Pitt in the role of Gerry Lane. His wife is played by Mireille Enos.

AMC The Regency 20 is in the Regency Square shopping center at 2496 West Brandon Blvd., across the street from the Westfield Brandon entranceway east of the Interstate 75 interchange.

• World War Z "will either write a sad final chapter to a long-gestating disaster involving one of its biggest stars or turn into something of a comeback story," according to a Los Angeles Times report on the big-budget film.  "Although the movie seems unlikely to make enough to recoup its pricey production budget and a global marketing expenditure believed to be well over $100 million, it may yet turn into a respectable effort and a potential franchise for the studio."

• World War Z also stars Daniella Kertesz (Segen), James Badge Dale (Captain Speke), Ludi Boeken (Jurgen Warmbrunn) and Matthew Fox, of Lost fame, as the parajumper.
