2 Restaurants New To Brandon Set To Open At Winthrop

More dining options are on the way for the Greater Brandon area, dishing up full-service breakfast, lunch, brunch and dinner menu offerings.

This story was first published June 26, 2013 at 5:23 a.m. A change reflects the current name of Ciccio's / Water in South Tampa.

The sign is up at Winthrop for two new restaurants coming to the Greater Brandon area, The Egg & I, for breakfast and lunch, and Ciccio's California Cuisine, for lunch, brunch and dinner.

Winthrop Town Founder John Sullivan said the restaurants should be ready to open some time in September or October.

"We now have more choices [for dining in Winthrop]," Sullivan said. "One offers a full-service breakfast. The other one is really fun, it has some really healthy choices and an eclectic menu."

Ciccio's "was very popular when it opened in St. Petersburg and it's been very popular in South Tampa for a long time," Sullivan added.

For a preview taste of Ciccio's California Cuisine, visit the St. Petersbug location, at 190 37th Ave. North. Under the same ownership is Ciccio's / Water in South Tampa, at 1015 South Howard Ave.

Visit Ciccio's California Cuisine for brunch and dinner/lunch menu offerings. Also, for the Two$ Tuesdays, after 5 p.m., menu.
The Egg & I is a new addition to the Tampa Bay area. Other Florida locations are in Orlando and Panama City. A restaurant is scheduled to open, too, in West Palm Beach. The eatery serve a full-breakfast menu and lunch.

The Egg & I marks a second major breakfast offering coming to the Greater Brandon area this year. First Watch The Daytime Cafe opened this month, June 17, on Causeway Boulevard at Gornto Lake Road, next door to the Chick-fil-A at Lake Brandon Village and across the street from Steak 'n Shake and Lee Roy Selmon's.

The Winthrop eateries will share a 6,600- square-foot building under construction west of the Winthrop Events Centre — which features the Barn Theatre at Winthrop and the Winthrop Pole Barn — and east of Regions Bank.

"There's about 500,000 square feet left [to develop] on Bloomingdale Avenue," John Sullivan said in an earlier Patch interview. "People don't realize how much is going to be there. A lot of it is going to be housing."

In comparison, the existing Winthrop Town Centre comprises about 150,000 square feet, Sullivan said. Anchored by a brick-facade Publix, the center's tenants include the Green Iguana, Acropolis Greek Taverna, Five Guys Burgers & Fries, Moe's Southwestern Grill and Cappy's Pizza restaurants. Also included in the mix are Starbucks, Winthrop Liquors, Soho Optics, Menchie's Frozen Yogurt, the Brandon Lakes Animal Hospital and the Aveda Spa & Salon.

Upcoming housing along Bloomingdale Avenue, Sullivan said, will include live-work units.
