2012 Small Business Saturday: Tips For Merchants, Deals for Shoppers

The day after Black Friday nationwide is Small Business Saturday, and here in the Greater Brandon area the Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce is working to help local merchants make the most of the Saturday day of shopping.

In a message to its members, chamber officials say they want "to help you make the cash registers ring the day after Black Friday by encouraging our friends ad neighbors to shop in local small businesses."

In addition to promoting local deals on its Web site, the chamber offers the following promotional tips and offerings:

• Encourage family, friends, customers, fans and followers to shop on Small Business Saturday. Utilize word-of-mouth and social-media outlets to spread the word.

• Download, print and display a chamber-created flyers that promotes Small Business Saturday.

• Offer Small Business Saturday deals and discounts to "provide your bottom line tremendous growth opportunities and create or solidify customer loyalty."

• Likewise, to encourage return customers, distribute on Small Business Saturday savings vouchers for December shopping.
