Tammy Bracewell announced today, May 29, she is stepping down from her position as president and chief executive officer of the Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce, effective June 7.

Tammy Bracewell announced today, May 29, that she is stepping down as president and chief executive officer of the Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce, "citing the need and desire to spend more time with her two grandchildren," according to a chamber release.

Bracewell, who has worked for the chamber for 24 years, isn't going far. She will remain with the chamber, taking on responsibility for special projects, a job that allows her the flexibility to work at home.

"While we were not anticipating Tammy's decision to change roles, we are pleased that we are able to fulfill her desire to spend more time with her family, while still having the benefit of her experience and expertise," said chamber chairman Darren Denington, in the chamber announcement. "We are excited about the steps leading up to the transition that have already occurred and, with her and Laura having worked closely for many years, we anticipate this being a seamless process."

Simpson reportedly has been with the chamber for 13 years.

The announcement was made this morning, May 29, to the chamber's board of directors and staff.

In her remarks to the board today, Bracewell is said to have shared the following quote: "The first responsibility of a leader is to define reality. The last is to say, 'Thank you.' In between, the leader is a servant."

Simpson said it has been an honor to serve with Bracewell for 13 years, "and I am eager to continue to work together, although within a different structure, to advance the business community of the Greater Brandon area."
