GrillSmith Sets Weeklong Annual Drive for Schenecker Memorial Fund

All six GrillSmith restaurant locations in the Tampa Bay area, including at the Westfield Brandon shopping mall, will be hosting the eatery's second annual drive for The Calyx and Beau Schenecker Memorial Fund. A portion of total sales from the week of Sept. 17-21 will be donated to the fund.

This past January marked the one-year anniversary of the double-homicide deaths of Calyx, 16, and Beau, 13, Schenecker, whose mother, Julie, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder. The family lived in Tampa Palms.

"Ever since, the child's father, Parker Schenecker, has devoted his life to honoring his children, and established a foundation in their memory to provide leadership, athletic and performing arts opportunities for promising Tampa Bay area teenagers," notes a report on the drive released by GrillSmith restuarants.

The company notes that in last year's drive, GrillSmith raised more than $10,000 for the memorial fund, with "100 percent of sales from Calyx's favorite GrillSmith dish, the Caribbean Pumpkin Crab Bisque soup, and Beau's favorite appetizer, the Spicy Thai Shrimp" donated.

Company officials hope to match last year's fundraising efforts.

GrillSmith has locations in Carrollwood, Clearwater/Countryside, Lakeland, New Tampa and South Tampa.

The Brandon is at the shopping mall, at 459 Brandon Town Centre Drive.

• Hours are Monday through Thursday, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.; and Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

• The restaurant is open for lunch from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

• Sunday diners can choose GrillSmith dinner options or a Sunday Brunch, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
