ShakeOut, ‘Shakeistas' and Facebook: A Westfield Brandon Summer Treat

ShakeOut, a gourmet milkshake store at Westfield Brandon, features more than 100 flavors and one of those flavors is for free through Aug. 31 for guests who show confirmation on their mobile devices of a check-in at Facebook or Foursquare.

What is a “shakeista?” Like a barista, only without the coffee, and in this case, with a milkshake, at what is being billed as “Tampa Bay’s one-and-only milkshake store.” ShakeOut is open for business at the shopping mall and has a summer promotion playing out on Facebook and Foursquare.

Inside the gourmet milkshake shop, guests choose from more than 120 flavors of candy, fruit and treats to combine with premium vanilla ice cream that a “shakeista” then “whirls into a creamy, frosty milkshake.”

"The unlimited number of flavor combinations set a ShakeOut shake apart from the average milkshake with selections ranging from fresh strawberries and bananas to Skittles and M&M’s or even Cheesecake Factory cheesecake,” according to a company release. The aim: a “personally perfect milkshake.”

Toward that end, the "CheckIn/ShakeOut" summer promotion offers a free flavor for social media savvy customers. The promotion ends Aug. 31.

To take advantage of the promotion, check in to ShakeOut on Facebook or Foursquare with a mobile device and then show the confirmation screen to the “shakeista" for the one- free-flavor addition.

ShakeOut opened in October 2011, owned by father and son David and James Stadleman, “two British ex-pats on a mission to sweeten up the states.” Long-term plans are to expand the operation nationwide.
