Super Bowl Spenders Set To Party? Use Your Brandon Patch Directory

Where should local residents spend the expected $118.80 that the Visa company says each Super Bowl party host will spend, on average? Business owners, claim your Brandon Patch listings and vie for a piece of the action.

Fans are expected to spend less this year but the budget still averages out to $118.80 per host.

That’s how much the average American throwing a Super Bowl party plans to spend on food, beverage and other items, according to a Visa Inc. survey conducted in time for Super Bowl XLVI.

Here in the South, that figure averages out to around $128.

The survey was conducted over the past weekend in anticipation of the Feb. 5 matchup between the New York Giants and the New England Patriots. Kickoff is 6:30 p.m., with Madonna scheduled for the halftime extravaganza.

In 2010, the average fan spent $144.

The survey is part of Visa's financial education program, Practical Money Skills for Life, which offers an Entertainment Planner calculator and a program, offering in conjunction with the National Football League and NFL players, an educational video game called, Financial Football.

According to this year's Super Bowl party survey, people in the lowest income bracket, who earn less than $20,000, plan to spend around $97. Hosts earning between $30,000 and $40,000 plan to spend, on average, $112. And those earning $75,000 or more are expected to average $124 per party.

Spending plans are higher in the south, followed by the northeast ($119), the midwest ($116) and the west ($110).

Becky Jordan walks to the stage moments after being named the 2010 Key Citizen of the Year by the Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce.

Let's face it, though, not everybody eats in or parties at home.

If you had $118 to spend, where would you spend it in Greater Brandon on Super Bowl Sunday? Will you be supporting a local, small business? Will you spending more, or less? What deals are you finding at the supermarket?
