Wellness Draws Public, 60 Vendors to Brandon Chamber Health Fair
The Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce Health Fair 2012 shines the spotlight on small businesses, educational institutions and others specializing in health and wellness products and services.
Reaching out, sharing, networking and educating were the stated purposes of involvement in the Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce Health Fair 2012 at the Campo Family YMCA, according to interviews with vendors during setup.
“We want to reach out to the community and share our services with them,” said Becky Weller, with Total Imaging Centers and Tower Diagnostic Center of Brandon. “Taking care of one’s health should be the most important priority in one’s life because taking care of yourself allows you to take care of others.”

The March 3 fair is open to the public and runs through 1 p.m.
“We want to support the Brandon chamber and we love the Y,” said Trenna Russ, with Hawthorne Village, a not-for-profit organization that provides retirement apartments, health and rehabilitation and assisted-living facilities for the aging population. “We want people to learn more about us and we like to meet as well with all the other vendors.”

Among those vendors was Rasmussen College, where several of the school’s first nursing students were ready to meet fair attendees.
“We want to take a greater, active role in the community,” said Carole Guye, the fundamentals instructor for the new registered nurse education program at the Greater Brandon campus of Rasmussen College. The classes lead to an associate’s degree.
“The nursing program just started,” she added. “We have very small class sizes, which gives us the opportunity to work closer and give more of a one-on-one experience with our students.”
