Westfield Brandon Mall to Expand By 180,000 Square Feet

The mall's owners have won approval to add 180,000 square feet of space for retail stores, offices or hotels. Included in the plan is a Gornto Lake Road expansion project to ease traffic.

will be expanding by 180,000 square feet after the mall's owners won approval from Hillsborough County Commissioners last week.

The commission unanimously voted in favor of the mall's request for a modification to its site plan at its meeting Wednesday, March 7, according to county records.

The future expansion could include retail stores, offices or hotels and be located on vacant parcels or attached to the mall, the Tampa Bay Times reported.

The mall's owners and the county also reached agreement on plans for a construction project that would connect Gornto Lake Road from Town Center Boulevard to State Road 60 and add a turning lane where Gornto Lake and Town Center Boulevard intersect.

The project is intended to ease traffic in the wake of the mall's expansion.

Westfield Brandon recently announced it would be adding several new tenants, that would replace the recently closed Ruby Tuesday.

The mall that would move into a space vacated by Sinigual Contemporary Mexican Cuisine.
