Big news in town — Tropical Storm Isaac skirts the area. The Republican National Convention is in Tampa, drawing the efforts of numerous volunteers from the Brandon-based Hillsborough County Republican Party. Public schools are open for the fifth day of the academic year.
That's news, but not this news, making the rounds in a series of Facebook posts and on signs across the Greater Brandon area today, Aug. 28.
Here's a clue: Have you seen B. Lee Elam's sign, at Lumsden Road and Parsons Avenue, the spot where each year the Greater Brandon Fourth of July Parade kicks off?
How about the sign outside the Campo Family YMCA, in the Greater Brandon community of Valrico, at Bloomingdale Avenue and Culbreath Road?
Or the sign at USAmeriBank, at the corner of Oakfield Drive and Kings Avenue?
Getting warmer? Here's two more clues:
Tabitha's Tea is one of many Greater Brandon businesses posting recognition of this person, and this event, on Facebook today.
At the Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce headquarters on Pauls Drive, a large group of members met today with cake and candles.
Okay, you've got to be hot!
Well, here's the anwer: Today is Tammy Bracewell's 50th birthday, and aparently there's a town filled with folks who just don't want her to forget it.
Bracewell is the president and executive director the Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce, which celebrated its own 50th-year milestone three years before Bracewell was born.
Happy birthday, Tammy!
