Engage Behavioral Health Expands ABA Therapy Program with Livingstone Academy to Serve More Children in Tampa Bay

With the start of the spring semester, Engage Behavioral Health expanded its Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy program at two private schools in Hillsborough County. Now, more students will receive behavioral therapy during or immediately after school at Livingstone Academy in Seffner and Livingstone Academy Autism Center in Valrico.

“It’s our students and their families who benefit the most from this partnership,” said Kristin Seltzer, Executive Director of Livingstone Academy Autism Center. “Rather than learning behavioral skills in a clinic, students will learn and apply skills in the setting where they’re applicable – the classroom, playground and lunchroom.”

Engage Behavioral Health will provide a total of 11 therapists and a clinical supervisor to work with the students. Livingstone Academy is a family of nonprofit private schools in Tampa Bay that specializes in serving the unique needs of children with learning disabilities in kindergarten through 8th grade.

“What’s amazing about this relationship is the ability to create a cohesive team between our behavior therapists and each student’s teachers and parents,” said Jennifer Rava, CEO and founder of Engage Behavioral Health. “It also enables us to educate the teachers about ABA therapy so they can best work with each student in the classroom to help him or her reach maximum potential.”

At the Valrico location – which is dedicated to meeting the needs of children with autism – Engage therapists have been working with nine students during the school day, and will now see an additional four after school. At the Seffner location, Engage therapists will now see four children after school.

Children enrolled in the program at both locations will see their therapists five days a week.

“A huge benefit of this partnership is the convenience it gives parents, who now have one less appointment for which to pick up their kids and take them somewhere else,” said Seltzer.

Engage Behavioral Health, which has seen rapid growth in the past year, has similar partnerships with two other Tampa Bay schools focused on children with learning disabilities: Sydney’s Academy in Tampa and Morning Star School of Pinellas Park. In total, Engage serves approximately 35 children at schools throughout Tampa Bay.
