The Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce legislative wrap-up luncheon returns for another year along with four other things to know and do in Greater Brandon and beyond.

A legislative update, senior choral spotlight, social hour for canines and their owners and a fashion show at Winthrop are on tap today, May 26, in Greater Brandon and beyond.

1. — LEGISLATIVE WRAP-UP

  • The Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce hosts its annual legislative wrap-up luncheon from 11:45 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza Tampa East hotel at 10221 Princess Palm Ave. Among those scheduled to be in attendance to present and answer questions  are Sen. Ronda Storms, R-Valrico; Rep. Rachel Burgin, R-Riverview; and Rep. Rich Glorioso, R-Plant City. Cost is  $18 for chamber members and $23 for non-members.

2. — FASHION SHOW

  • At the Barn Theatre at Winthrop tonight, 21 teens are set to model fashions from Winthrop Town Centre merchants Downtown Divas, Royalty X Three and Hut 8, with hair and makeup by Asonipse Aveda Salon and makeup artist Brandi Lynn. Cost is $5 and includes refreshments and desserts from Italian Kitchen in Riverview. The event kicks off at 7:30 p.m.

3. — CHORAL SHOW

  • Members of the Riverview High School choral department are set to perform tonight at the Senior Spotlight Chorus Concert, under the directorship of choral director Liz Stewart. Set to perform: Vision; the advanced women’s choir; Exceptional Student Education students, the “Beauty and the Beast” medley; and the mixed chorus. Soloists featured: Charles Elmore, Bailey Simon and Durrand Brandt and Lindsay Gallardo and M.K. Gomez (BACON). The concert is from 7-10 p.m.

  • From the Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce, notice that Kimberly Tyson, of Four Paws Veterinary Hospital, is presenting her latest monthly “Yappy Hour” 6-9 p.m. tonight. This month’s animal-related benefiting charity  is G.R.E.A.T. Greyhound Rescue. The event is set for Joia’s Fabulous Pizza and Martini Bar, at 10475 Gibsonton Drive, in the Lowes-anchored shopping plaza in Riverview, on the southeast corner of U.S. Highway 301 and Gibsonton Drive.

5. — TODAY IN HISTORY

  • Today, in 1927, marked the final day of Model T production at Ford and, in 1896, the Wall Street Journal began publishing the Dow Jones Industrial Average. One year later, on May 26, Bram Stoker’s novel, “Dracula,” went on sale in London. For this and more, visit History.com.
