  • All y, with the Tampa Bay area responding to and embracing the effects of a tropical storm that appears headed toward the Louisiana coast  and not Florida. Still, local forecasts note heavy rains and  high-surf and coastal-flooding advisories, as well as warnings of rip currents. 
  • The Florida High School Athletic Association's scathing report on the Armwood High School football team led to sanctions released this week. The and fined more than $12,000 by the FHSAA. The team also had to give up its 2010 state runners-up title. The noted, along with principal Michael Ippolito's responses to those violations, which concerned residence requirements for five players.
  •   in Brandon for Tyler Stich, 17, one of six teens and a youth driving in a sport-utility vehicle on Kings Avenue south of Bloomingdale Avenue.   • ? That's been the age-old question for community theater veterans and now paranormal enthusiasts from Plant City have been staging investigations. Brandon Patch issued a report on the June 16 fundraiser that shed light on the investigation and raised some $800 for theater repairs. 
  • Hillsborough's celebrates its second-month anniversary on June 21, which also happens to be national Go Skateboarding Day.   • "" held its second celebrity chef offering at the Copper Bell Cafe on June 18, with local notable MaryEllen Elia, the superintendent of Hillsborough County schools, serving on behalf of the Hillsborough Education Foundation.  
  • Locals for free tickets to President Barack Obama's June 22 campaign stop at the Dale Mabry campus of Hillsborough Community College. Republicans at the head of the line , speaking for many on the line, said it was the "history" of the event that drew them as much as it was the focus on this year's presidential election. The hearing from a president who noted the crucial importance of the Hillsborough County vote.
  • The is thriving in its fourth year, with two basketball courts, also for volleyball and tennis, an indoor track, fitness and weight room, cafe, "Kidzone," classes and camps, including a camp that drew students for "."
