Five students, from Armwood and Newsome high schools, compete to advance in Rotary speech contest.

Five contestants exhibited their oratorical skills at the Brandon ’86 Rotary Club speech contest in March with Ryan Gibson, of Newsome High, selected to advance in the competition.

The five contestants, representing Armwood and Newsome high schools, competed March 4 at The Bridges in Riverview, where the Rotary Club holds its Friday breakfast meetings, according to Rotarian Ted Wilson.

The students — Tori Brown and Sarah Shelby of Armwood, and Gibson, Valery Toro and Tyler Iarizzo of Newsome — were asked to speak about: “Building Communities, Bridging Continents.”
