Brandon Has a Blast With Westfield Brandon Fireworks Celebration

Following the Greater Brandon Fourth of July Parade, it seems like everybody came out again to witness the Brandon Blast fireworks celebration presented by the Westfield Brandon shopping center.

Jenny Gloer said it was a perfect day in Brandon, starting with the 2012 Greater Brandon Fourth of July Parade and ending with the Brandon Blast Fireworks display at Westfield Brandon.

There, Gloer, a teacher at Mann Middle School, talked about what for many townsfolk is a routine for the July 4th celebration: Wake up, go to the parade, go home, have a barbeque, take a nap then pack the car back up for a night watching fireworks with the rest of the Brandon community.

Indeed, a huge crowd of people attended the festivities in the parking lot of Westfield Brandon, just outside the Restaurant Courtyard, while tons more lined the streets of shopping centers along Causeway Boulevard, with lawn and beach chairs in tow, to watch the fireworks from there.

“We’re enjoying it, it’s a great event,” she said, parked with friends in the Westfield Brandon parking lot. “Just the small-town feel. When we arrived here from Atlanta, we remembered the town center. We’re having that feeling again, in Brandon."

In a nutshell, Gloer said, “It’s small town America.” And the dual events, she added, “makes it a really happy time to celebrate."

As for 10-year-old Nathaniel Hinnrichs, he gave his top five reasons for celebrating the Fourth of July in such a rich community setting, starting with the 2012 Greater Brandon Fourth of July Parade and ending with the Westfield Brandon Blast fireworks celebration. As Hinnrichs put it, what’s memorable about the Fourth of July in Brandon: “Fireworks, grilling, parades, bouncy castles and games.”
