Brandon resident Terry Kemple, president of the Community Issues Council, will be the keynote speaker at the Brandon Prayer Breakfast, hosted by the Brandon, FishHawk and Valrico chapters of Christian Business Connections.
The Feb. 20 breakfast is from 8-10 a.m. at Bell Shoals Baptist Church in Brandon, at 2102 Bell Shoals Road.
The former owner of a computer consulting business, Kemple is an active member of the church. He has served as executive director of the Christian Coalition of Florida and Florida Right to Life. He also led an evangelistic sexual abstinence ministry in which more than 6,500 students made the decision to remain abstinent until marriage.
In 2008, he led the Tampa Bay area portion of the statewide campaign to have marriage defined in the state constitution as being between one man and one woman.
Kemple also helped lead the effort to get the Good Friday holiday returned to the Hillsborough County school calendar.
He recently has been active with the Community Issues Council, a local Christian ministry he founded to help churches understand what effect issues will have on Christians.
In addition, Kemple serves on the board of LifeCare of Brandon and Faith Tampa Bay. He is a member of the Brandon '86 Rotary Club and of the Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce.
Christian Business Connections bills itself as a group of business people who base business decisions on Christian values and help one another's businesses prosper through networking and sharing Christian business practices.
The Brandon chapter meets Mondays at Mimi's Cafe in Brandon, at 804 Providence Road. The weekly meeting is from 7:45-9 am.
The chapter hosts the Brandon Prayer Breakfast three times a year to let Christian business people hear an inspirational message from a speaker, pray for the community and network.
Tickets to the Feb. 20 breakfast cost $20 at the door. Sponsors include 3 Strand Business Solutions, Christian Voice, Surv Tech Solutions and Renea Coker with Keller Williams.
