Brandon South Rotary's 1st Annual Lobstah' Fest at Winthrop (PHOTOS)

The Rotary Club of Brandon South, at the Winthrop Pole Barn in Riverview, presented its First Annual Lobstah' Festival. It's a continuation of a fundraiser launched by Rob Silver in his 2010 bid for honorary mayor of Brandon.

Kathy Collins, president of the Rotary Club of Brandon South, said she was pleased with the group's First Annual Lobstah' Festival, held Sept. 17 at the Winthrop Pole Barn in Riverview.

"For a first-time event, it was a success," she said. "We couldn't suppport all the nonprofits we support throughout the year, like ECHO, A Kid's Place, Center Place and the Brandon Outreach Clinich, without events like this."

As Collins put it: "It was worth all the time and effort it took to put it together."

"We're a small club, we have only 19 members, but we all come together and every single member in this club worked to make this [festival] a success," Collins said.

The lobster festival idea stemmed from the 2010 race for honorary mayor of Brandon, in which candidate Rob Silver used a similar event to raise money for his charity race.

The Rotary Club of Brandon South has the following officers:

  • President — Kathy Collins
  • President-Elect — Kathy Curry
  • President-Nominee — Lori Bukaweski
