BSAC Accepting Applications for 30 Learn-To-Swim Scholarships

Thirty spots are open to be filled at the Brandon Sports & Aquatic Center for children who want to learn to swim but whose families are on tight budgets.

The spots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis, according to Lori Bukaweski, the associate executive director of the (BSAC) on Beverly Drive in Brandon.

As a "Make a Splash" partner, BSAC has received up to $5,000 in grant funding from the USA Swimming Foundation, through a donation from Bealls Department Stores, to help achieve the foundation’s goal to help provide the opportunity for every child to learn to swim.

Through the grant, learn-to-swim instruction is available for 30 children between the ages 3 and 12.

A qualified applicant would be qualified as well for such programs as School Readiness or the Healthy Meals Express Free and Reduced Lunch offering.
