Cheapest Gas in Brandon: June 4 Report

Looking for the best deal for filling up your gas tank? This report aims to aid in the search.

The search is on for the cheapest gas you can find and today’s best bet in Brandon might be these top three lowest prices found at GasBuddy.com on June 4 at 11:30 a.m.

The site, updated daily with visitor reports, at this reporting for regular gasoline lists 20 stations for Brandon, with prices ranging from $3.57 to $3.66 per gallon.

For premium gas, prices ranged from $3.78 to $3.99 per gallon, based on reported visitor updates for 13 stations. (The second-to-highest prices in each category were 3.63 and 3.91, respectively.)

For midgrade fuel, prices ranged from $3.71 to $3.89, with reports from 13 stations. (The second-to-highest price was $3.85.)

For diesel fuel, prices ranged from $3.83 to $3.89, with reports on seven stations.

Prices across the states ranged from 3.465 in South Carolina (where prices remained steady) to 4.212 in Alaska (where prices were down). Illinois was next highest at 4.195, followed by Michigan (4.128) and Indiana (4.089).

Florida placed 17th on the list from lowest- to-highest priced gasoline. Florida was at 3.660 (down from 3.744 on May 26 and 3.909 on May 10). 

Nationwide, prices rose in seven states (Utah, Montana, Vermont, Wisconsin, Connecticut, Hawaii and Illinois), remained steady in 11 states and fell in all others, including Florida.

Tampa prices were falling (3.620, down from 3.705 on May 26 and 3.782 on May 20) and so, too, the Florida state average (3.660, down from 3.744 on May 26 and 3.824 on May 20). Nationwide, the average was reported at 3.774, down from 3.809 on May 26 and  3.867 on May 20).

In the 10 prior “Cheapest Gas” postings  filed by Brandon Patch, the lowest price for regular gas was reported March 30 ($3.45). The highest price for regular gas was reported May 10 ($3.79).

According to a map credited to the  American Petroleum Institute, gasoline taxes as of January 2011 in 16 states ranked in the highest category, "greater than 48.1." The chart looks at the combined local, state and federal taxes in cents per gallon. Florida was in that highest category (52.8). Ranking at the top and bottom of the list in that category were California (66.1) and Oregon (49.4).

For regular gas locally, the cheapest prices reported were:

  • $3.57 at Murphy USA, 1110 East Brandon Blvd. (near Mt. Carmel Road)
  • $3.57 at RaceTrac, 810 East Brandon Blvd. and North Oakwood Avenue  
  • $3.57 at Sunoco, 405 East Brandon Blvd. and Lithia Pinecrest Road
  • $3.57 at 7-Eleven, 1531East Brandon Blvd. and South Mt. Carmel Road
  • $3.58 at Hess, 915 Providence Road and Lumsden Road
  • $3.58 at Sam's Club, 2021 West Brandon Blvd. (near Providence Road)
  • $3.58 at Chevron, 202 West Brandon Blvd. and Edwards Avenue
  • $3.58 at Costco, 10921 Causeway Blvd. and Interstate 75

For regular gas locally, the highest prices were:

  • $3.66 at  7-Eleven, 1020 South Kings and Oak Park Place
  • $3.63 at Shell, 1901 West Brandon Blvd. and Providence Road
  • $3.61 at Mobil, 612 Lumsden Road and Kings Avenue
  • $3.61 at Shell, 934 Lithia Pinecreat Road and Lumsden Road
  • $3.61 at Mobil, 1640 West Brandon Blvd. and Lakewood Drive
  • $3.61 at Mobil, 615 West Bloomindgale Ave. and Kings Avenue
