East Hillsborough Democrats To Talk Health Care Reform at Brandon Meetup

Florida CHAIN Advocacy director and Tampa General Hospital emergency room physician to discuss the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 at the East Hillsborough Democratic Club meeting June 14 at Barnacle's in Brandon.

It’s red meat to Republicans and could be manna from heaven to Democrats but just what will President Barak Obama’s healthcare plan mean to John Q. Public?

Brandon Democrats will chew over that question tonight, June 14, when they welcome to the East Hillsborough County Democratic Club meeting, as featured speakers, Tampa General Hospital emergency room physician Jason Wilson and Florida CHAIN Advocacy Director Patrick Cannon.

The duo will present an overview of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010, discuss its implementation in Florida and share real-world experiences about the impact of health-care policy on patients in the Greater Brandon area.

Health care has been the club of choice for Republican presidential aspirants looking to take a swing at President Obama.

“We need to dispel the myths out there,” said Democratic Club President Angie Angel. “We encourage as many people as possible in Brandon to come out and listen to the facts, there is a lot of misunderstanding about this issue and how people can benefit from it.”

Angel has no doubt the healthcare will be front and center in next year’s presidential election.

“It was obvious from last night’s GOP presidential candidate debate that they want to repeal it.”

Founded in 2005, the club draws members from Brandon, Riverview, Plant City, Mango, Lithia, and points in between.
