Gas Leak Forces Evacuation at St. Stephen Jubilee

Fire officials are on scene and have stopped the leak. No injuries have been reported.

The fun has been put on hold following a propane tank leak at St. Stephen Catholic School’s carnival.

Hillsborough County Fire Rescue has closed down and evacuated the 11th Annual Spring Jubilee in the Greater Brandon community of Riverview as Hazardous Incident Team workers burn the gas and empty the tank, according to fire officials.

The incident occurred just after 1:30 p.m., when the leak was discovered by event workers. Fire officials say the 500-pound container was somehow compromised and was being used to fuel barbecue grills.
