MUSICIANS AND THEIR SONGS

  • WHERE/WHEN: Come hear the story behind the songs at The Farm, 7818 Lithia-Pinecrest Rd., Lithia, Friday, Sept. 29.
  • WHY GO: Come for hamburgers, hot dogs and beverages at 6:30 p.m. and then stay for the music of local musicians starting at 7 p.m. The night will feature several songwriters who will tell the inspiration behind the songs. Bring your own guitar, banjo or other acoustic instrument and join in the singing. There is no admission but donations are appreciated. ECHO AND KIDS FASHIONS

  • WHERE/WHEN: The Emergency Care Help Organization in Brandon will host its annual Darlings & Dessert Kids Helping Kids Fashion Show Oct. 1 from 1 to 3 p.m. at The Bridges Banquet Hall, 11202 Dewhurst Drive, Riverview.
  • WHY GO: Participants are asked to obtain sponsorships of at least $100 to model outfits during a fashion show featuring just kids. This year Kohl's is providing the fashions. Proceeds from this event will be used to purchase clothing, shoes, personal hygiene products, diapers, formula and food for the nonprofit agency. For tickets, call 813-685-0935.

SANTA'S CROP FOR THE KIDS

  • WHERE/WHEN: The Brandon Junior Woman's Club District 8 will host its annual Santa's Crop for the Kids (formerly Santa in September) Saturday, Oct. 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 2923 John Moore Road in Brandon.
  • WHY GO: The cost is $35 and includes nine hours of crop time, breakfast, lunch, snacks, raffle/door prizes, a silent auction, vendors, goodie bags and make-n-takes. Proceeds will go to the Brandon Junior Woman's Club's holiday project, a program for underprivileged school children chosen by guidance counselors at 21 of the elementary schools in the Brandon area.

PAWS GARAGE SALE

  • WHERE/WHEN: Friends of PAWS of Hillsborough County Inc. will hold a garage sale Saturday, Oct. 1 at 8 a.m. at 2511 Regal River Rd., off Lithia-Pinecrest Road in Valrico.
  • WHY GO: There will be antiques, collectibles, furniture, holiday decor, fabric, household items and pet items for sale to benefit the nonprofit foster organization for abandoned and unwanted pets. Contact pawsofhc.org@minimail1.com.

EMBASSY SUITES BRIDAL SHOWCASE

  • WHERE/WHEN: Embassy Suites Tampa Brandon, 10220 Palm River Road, Tampa, will host a Bridal Showcase Event Sunday, Oct. 2 from noon to 4 p.m.
  • WHY GO: Brides-to-be can meet local vendors. learn about Embassy Suites' free wedding promo and have a chance to win door prizes. The cost of tickets is $10 at the door. Call 813-413-3906.
