Get Out: Weekend Planner for Brandon: June 11-12

A high school reunion, a dance recital and yard sale for moms of toddlers are all on tap this weekend.

On the heels of the graduation of 481 students from Brandon High School, the school’s Class of 1981 is planning its 30th reunion this weekend in Clearwater. The Hillsborough County Extension is also planning an open house while area Republicans plan a celebration of the 1980s.

BABY, TODDLER, MATERNITY AND NURSING YARD SALE

Why Go: Baby, toddler, maternity and nursing yard sale.

 

BRANDON HIGH CLASS OF 1981 REUNION

When/Where: 7 p.m., June 11, 400 Mandalay Ave, Clearwater, FL 33767 (Hilton Clearwater Beach).

Why Go: Brandon High's Class of '81 is celebrating its 30th reunion in Clearwater, FL. The theme is "Hawaiian Luau" and a prize will be awarded for the "Best Hawaiian Look." Special hotel accommodations are available as well as sponsorships and an opportunity to buy reunion memorabilia (even if you don't attend). Price: $110 per person before May 11; $120 per person after May 11. No late-registration fee for persons currently serving in the military. Limited number of walk-up tickets available; cash required. EXTENSION OPEN HOUSE

Where/When: 10 a.m.-2 p.m., June 11, 5339 County Road 579, Seffner.

Why Go: Hillsborough County Extension, a cooperative service between the county and the University of Florida, is hosting an open house. The event will feature free family-friendly hands-on activities and exhibits, make-and-take home projects, presentations and garden tours. All ages are welcome, however, the open house is most appropriate for children in grade three and up and adults. Registration is not required. DANCE RECITAL

When/Where: 7 p.m., June 11, 4748 Cougar Path, Plant City.

Why Go: Katrina's School of Dance will hold its 2011 recital, "Rhythm of Life," at Durant High School. The cost is $15 for adults and $8 for children. Call Katrina at 813-654-3060 or e-mail ckattdance@aol.com.

 

REAGAN '80S PARTY

Where/When: 9 p.m.-1 a.m., Park Square Cellar & Bistro, 16132 Churchview Drive, Lithia.

Why Go: The FishHawk Republicans will host a Reagan '80s Party at Park Square Cellar to celebrate the 1980s with a Reagan costume contest, trivia and moonwalk contest. Elected representatives have been invited to attend. Call: Kelly Clem-Rickon at 813-598-5642 or visit the group's web site.

 

BENEFIT CAR WASH

Where/When: 10 a.m.-2 p.m., June 12, Car Wash on the Greens, 3618 Lithia-Pinecrest Road, Valrico.

Why Go: The Blessed Trinity Mission of St. Stephen Catholic Church will hold a benefit car wash to raise funds for a mission in Panama. Call: 813-689-4900.

 

TEEN NIGHT

Where/When: 7 p.m.-8:30 p.m., June 12, St. Stephen Catholic Church, 5049 Bell Shoals Road, Valrico.

BRANDON COUPON CLUB

Where/When: 2 p.m.-3 p.m., June 12, 1906 Bloomingdale Ave., Valrico.
