Glorioso announced May 30 that he was considering a run for the District 24 seat, given that Storm was not running as an incumbent. He made his announcement at the Legislative Update Luncheon hosted by the Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce at the Embassy Suites in Brandon.

"After filing to run for Supervisor of Elections, I was presented with an unexpected opportunity, running for the State Senate," Glorioso said in a prepared statement he released at around 5 p.m. today, May 31. Below is the text of that statement:

"After careful consideration, I have decided to continue seeking the office of Supervisor of Elections. My wife and I are extremely excited to continue my public service on behalf of all the residences of Hillsborough County. As a Colonel in the Air Force, I took an oath to protect and defend our constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic. As a Plant City Commissioner and State Representative, I was a part of our lawmaking process within the constitution, standing up for the rights and protecting the interests of my constituents. I look forward to bringing these experiences along with me as I work to safeguard the foundation of our Democratic Republic, the voting process. As the next Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections, I vow to execute that process with competency, transparency, and integrity. To all of the people who encouraged me to run for the State Senate, as well as those who encouraged me to remain in the Supervisor of Elections race, I want to thank you all.”

Earl Lennard is not seeking re-election as Hillsborough's Supervisor of Elections.

Democrats Craig Latimer and Thomas Scott have also filed to run for the position.
