Grab & Go Kids Planner: Top Family Picks for the Week

Check out all the things to do with kids this week in the Brandon area.

Juggling your responsibilities and entertaining the kids is no easy task. Brandon Patch is coming to the rescue, with the Top 5  family-friendly activities in the area.

  •  Where/When: Brandon Family Support Center, 1277 Kingsway Rd. Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.
  • Why Go: Parents, along with toddlers and children up to 4 years of age, are invited for fun playtime and crafts projects. Meet other families while your child participates in exciting activities and gains new friends.
  • Free!

  • Where/When: Center Place Fine Arts,  619 Vonderburg Dr. Thursday at 11:45 a.m.
  • Why Go: Children are invited to Center Place for a fun musical program in the Make Believe Theatre with musician Katie Adams. Youngsters will enjoy fun sing-a-long songs about old American fables such as Paul Bunyan, Jack and the Bean Stalk and more.
  • $6 for members, $7 for non-members.

Lowe's Build & Grow Kids Clinic

  •  Where/When: All Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse locations. Saturday at 10 a.m.
  • Why Go: Bring your little builders to the local Lowe's store for some hands-on fun. In this week's Build & Grow Kids' Clinic, children will create their very own wooden fortune teller to share with family and friends. Each participant will receive a free apron, goggles, and certificate of completion.
  • Free!

  • Where/When: The Disney Store, 550 Brandon Town Center Mall. Saturday at noon.
  • Why Go: Children ages 3 and older are invited to the Westfield Countryside Disney Store for an afternoon of exciting games and activities with the animated film, "Tangled" starring Mandy Moore as Rapunzel. Participating youngsters will receive a free activity sheet, along with other fun surprises.
  • Free!


  •  Where/When: Music Showcase, 402 Oakfield Dr. Saturday at 2 p.m.
  • Why Go: The young performers, ages 4 to 9, of the Florida Academy of Performing Arts’ Acting Up group will presents "A Year with Frog and Toad Kids." The musical by Robert and Willie Real follows an energetic and outgoing frog and his friend the grumpy toad, through the four seasons. The play teaches kids the importance of friendship and accepting others that are different.
  • Adults $8, children $5.

Valrico Elementary 2nd Annual Spring Jubilee

  •  Where/When: Valrico Elementary School, 609 S. Miller Rd. Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Why Go: The Valrico Elementary PTA invites families to its 2nd Annual Spring Jubilee. The event features fun and family-friendly activities, games, and local vendors. Kids will enjoy a day filled with bounce houses, rock walls, obstacle courses and hands-on crafts. 
  • Admission is free. Tickets for prizes and giveaways are $1 each or $5 for 6. Wristbands for activities are $20 all day.
